June 3rd, 2016 brings us 83-days away from the National Park Service Centennial. In this edition of the #CentennialCountdown we go back 83-years to 1933 when Death Valley was established as a National Monument by Herbert Hoover.
1933 also brought us our third director of the National Park Service, Arno Cammerer. In the eight years that Arno served as the NPS director he tripled the land under their management and increased visitation from two to sixteen million annual visitors.
