June 10th, 2016 brings us 76-days away from the National Park Service Centennial. In this edition of the #CentennialCountdown we go back 76-years to 1940. In 1940 we see the inclusion of Kings Canyon National Park as well as the appointment of the 4th director of the National Park Service, Newton Drury. Newton did not have experience working for the NPS, but was well known in conservation circles for his work as the Executive Secretary of the Save-the-Redwoods League.
