June 30th, 2016 brings us 56-days away from the National Park Service Centennial. In this edition of the #CentennialCountdown we go back 56-years to 1960 when Fort Laramie National Historic Site, Arkansas Post National Memorial, and Pea Ridge National Military Park were established.

Fort Laramie was established in 1834 and is the most well known military post on the northern plains until it was abandoned in 1890

Known as 'The Battle that Saved Missouri for the Union' Pea Ridge occurred on March 7-8 in 1862

Arkansas Post is the site of a Civil War conflict that occurred on January 9th, 1863
