July 13th, 2016 brings us 43-days away from the National Park Service Centennial. In this edition of the #CentennialCountdown we go back 43-years to 1973. In other environmental news we saw the signing of the Endangered Species Act. In the National Park Service Ronald Walker became the director and we saw the creation of Longfellow National Historic Site. The Longfellow House 'preserves the home of Henry W. Longfellow, one of the world’s foremost 19th century poets. The house also served as headquarters for General George Washington during the Siege of Boston, July 1775 - April 1776.'
