July 10th, 2016 brings us 46-days away from the National Park Service Centennial. In this edition of the #CentennialCountdown we go back 46-years to 1970 and the creation of 8 units of the National Park Service with Agate Fossil Beds, Andersonville National Historic Site, Apostle Islands, Ford's Theatre National Historic Site, Fort Point National Historic Site, Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Site, Nez Perce National Historic Park, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
Sleeping Bear Dunes is the only of these 8-units that I have seen so I added in some photos and videos from when I was there last July. One of the things that I hope that these short posts do is help you realize how many and how close a National Park Service unit is to you!
