August 9th, 2016 brings us 16 days away from the National Park Service Centennial. In this edition of the #CentennialCountdown we go back 16 years to 2000 and the creation of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
I will admit that I was prepared to be underwhelmed by Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It exceeded my expectations to an extraordinary degree. One of the most jaw dropping moments of the entire trip was seeing the heronry in CVNP. There are several trees where Great Blue Herons next. These are massive birds and seeing a dozen or more of these birds in one tree with huge nests is absolutely incredible.
