80-days until the National Park Service Centennial

June 6th, 2016 brings us 80-days away from the National Park Service Centennial. In this edition of the #CentennialCountdown we go back 80-years to 1936 and a movie that was produced in Great Smoky Mountains National Park to highlight the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Enjoy!!

The Department of Interior takes a look at its effort in the Great Smoky Mountains in this vintage film. SUMMARY Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) men ride in trucks, work with pick and shovel, operate bulldozers, graders and pneumatic drills, construct parapets and guard rails, and march with pick and shovel in the park.
