I am about 5 years away from being highlighted on the show Hoarders and I have to get rid of all of my possessions in the next 17 days. There are certain things that I know are not going on the trip. The TV, the Ikea bookshelf, the pull up bar and all of my high school math papers.
There are other things where it is less clear. Will I use my Origami-a-day calendar? Can you play squash/tennis in the National Parks? Harry Potter on blu-ray? My magenta prom tux? I can wear that in the parks right?
How do you pack for a 14-month trip? Do you take 2 pairs of underwear? Or 11-pairs? Do I fill two crates with books? Or will 1 create with 22 be enough?
If it weren't overwhelming enough to simply quit your job and plan a trip around the country I now how to go through the possessions I have collected over the last 29 years of live and determine what is meaningful enough to save.
I have newspaper clippings from high school and college, I save those right? My life is changing so drastically, and so quickly. My head is going to explode. I had to make the BALCONY BLOWOUT video to balance the stress. Getting rid of everything is absolutely overwhelming, making myself laugh about it makes everything mostly all right.
Seriously though, let me know if you need anything, and come to my apartment this Sunday from 4-8pm! Please let me know if you need directions.
