United States Senator Angus King of Maine has been encouraging the National Park Service to join the 21st century by developing a mobile app for park goers.
While we were in Jueanu, Alaska we made a stop at Mendenhall Glacier. They had a modest entrance fee and I asked if there was a way that I could give them the number from my National Parks pass. The simple answer was, nope!
Numerous times on our journey in talking with people from the National Park Service they have discussed finding ways to increase youth involvement with the parks. It only seems natural that they should create an app that allows people to purchase a pass, pull up directions, look for campgrounds, review hikes, etc, etc etc. I think it is wonderful that a 71-year old Senator is telling them how to do this. Thank you, Senator King!
